Prepare yourself for another iPad related rumour, and this one might just be true. According to AllThingsD, Apple is set to reveal the next iteration of the iPad on March 2nd, which is right in the middle of the Game Developers Conference. Apparently we can expect the iPad 2 to be lighter, faster and it comes with a built-in camera like the iPhone 4. All of these seem like obvious upgrades to the previous model, so only time will tell if these claims hold any truth.

If you haven’t already heard the news, Nintendo is entering a new era in their handheld gaming business with the 3DS. Why does that matter? Well other than packing a technical punch in the graphics department, it features a fully 3D, glasses-free screen.

This is important because for the first time 3D will become available to the masses, without the use of those irritating glasses. Like Apple, Nintendo has been known to lead the way in their respected market, so Apple should follow-suit and bring 3D to mobile phones. Right now, it’s a matter of not if, but when. Earlier this week, the BBC released an iPad optimised version of the “iPlayer” on the iTunes store.  The application allows users to catch up on all their favourite BBC shows, listen to live radio, and browse the iPlayer for upcoming programs. When “Apps” first exploded onto the scene, no one knew just how successful they were going to become. Now, in 2011, Apple has reported that over 10 billion apps have been downloaded since the App Store first took off in July 10, 2008. Apple has changed the way we interact with phones forever, and I can’t imagine ever going back to a time where seamlessly downloading applications wasn’t heard of.

“With more than 10 billion apps downloaded in just two and a half years—a staggering seven billion apps in the last year alone—the App Store has surpassed our wildest dreams,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “The App Store has revolutionised how software is created, distributed, discovered and sold. Just in time for Valentines day, Rovio have released an updated version of their insanely popular iPhone hit, Angry Birds. Following the success of the  Halloween and Christmas themed releases, the new Valentines update comes packed with 15 new levels, featuring lovey-music and lots of pink stuff.

If you’re still up for some more bird-flinging action, the updated version of the game is priced at 59p for iPhone and £1.19 for the iPad version. However, if you have already downloaded the game, this is a free update.
